  • Future steps to be discussed with President Rajapaksa, SLC, selectors and advisory committee

Sports and Youth Minister Namal Rajapaksa

Sports and Youth Minister Namal Rajapaksa yesterday expressed confidence of Sri Lanka cricket bouncing back.

He said past captains including Arjuna Ranatunga would be consulted on how to revive Sri Lanka cricket, especially at provincial and school level.

He said a discussion on future steps would be held at meeting between President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and SLC’s Technical and Advisory Committee, headed by former Sri Lanka captain Aravinda de Silva, the selectors and the SLC Executive Committee, in the near future.

“We have a good plan and I am confident the Sri Lankan cricket team will go back to winning ways,” Rajapaksa said in response to questions on cricket by media covering his inspection visit to the Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday with Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.
