A joint training session took place at the Kandy Sports Club Rugby Academy at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium recently by the New Zealand and Sri Lankan players for the young rugby players from Central.

This session featured players from the New Zealand Under 85 kg squad and the Sri Lankan Tuskers, creating a valuable opportunity for cross-cultural rugby development.

Representing New Zealand were Adam Preston, Ridgley Paxton, and Ben Biggelaar –  talented athletes known for their speed, agility, and commitment to the game. From the Sri Lankan Tuskers, key players included Nigel Ratwatte, Kavindu Perera, and Srinath Sooriyabandara.

Under the supervision of Kandy Sports Club Rugby Academy’s Head In charge, former Rajans and Kandy SC player, Darshana Ethipola, the session focused on sharing techniques, improving tactical awareness, and fostering international rugby camaraderie. Both teams engaged in skill-based drills, scrummage matches, and fitness routines, emphasising the importance of discipline, teamwork, and mutual respect.
