The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka successfully conducted a comprehensive Team Awareness Program for athletes and officials preparing for the Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026, reinforcing readiness ahead of the continental showpiece.
Held at Olympic House in Colombo, the session brought together 92 participants, including 77 athletes and 15 officials. The initiative aimed to equip the national contingent with essential knowledge on performance, safety, and professional responsibilities before departure for the Games scheduled from 22 to 30 April in China.
NOC, Secretary General Rifdy Fahmy opened proceedings, followed by a detailed team briefing from Chef de Mission Samith Thilina, who outlined operational plans and expectations. Medical guidance was delivered by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sherika Samarasinghe, focusing on athlete health, injury prevention, and competition readiness. An anti-doping session too was conducted for all participants.
With the Games set in a coastal environment, special emphasis was placed on water safety awareness. The program concluded with an interactive dialogue session, reflecting NOC Sri Lanka’s commitment to preparing a confident, informed, and disciplined Team Sri Lanka for international success.
