Coaches recognised at EmpowHer event organised by the Gender Equity community to celebrate Women’s month 2026 at NOCSL

 

The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOC Sri Lanka) successfully concluded its International Women’s Day initiative, EmpowHER recently at the Sri Lanka Olympic House. Held under the theme “Give to Gain,” the programme brought together 74 participants, celebrating and empowering women coaches and mentors across the country.

President, NOC SL, Suresh Subramaniam highlighted the importance of investing in people, while Vice President Niloo Jayatilake emphasised recognising women’s selfless contributions to sport.

The programme featured expert sessions by Mifra Sadikeen, Dr. Duminda Silva, and Prof. Chathuranga Ranasinghe, alongside interactive learning activities.

At the EmpowHER Awards, Indunil Pussella, Thamara Samandeepika, Amila Eranga, Geetha Pathiranavawasam, and Shenali Herath were honoured, reinforcing NOC Sri Lanka’s commitment to women’s leadership and inclusion.          (SJ)
