Mithun Perera in the lead after Day Two

Professional golfer Mithun Perera continued his impressive run to remain at the summit of the Sri Lanka Open Championship 2026 at the completion of the second round worked off at the Royal Colombo Golf Club yesterday.

Perera, who fired a brilliant opening round of 66, followed it up with a composed 69 to finish on a two-day aggregate of 135, carrying a narrow one-stroke advantage into the weekend rounds.

Breathing right down his neck are Reshan Algama and N. Thangaraja, who are tied for second place on 136 after producing identical scores of 68 in both rounds. There was hardly any separation between the two golfers throughout the opening two days, underlining their consistency and determination as they remain firmly in contention for the title.

Experienced campaigners Vijitha Bandara and former champion Anura Rohana share fourth position on 139. Both players improved on their opening-round scores of 70 by carding 69s in round two to stay within striking distance of the leader heading into the decisive stages of the championship.

Haroon Aslam occupies sixth place on a total of 140.

The cut was applied at the end of round two, with only 22 golfers out of a field of 74 qualifying for rounds three and four of the championship.
