S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia will be led by Number 8, Mckyle Karunaratne for the 2026 rugby season with high hopes of restoring their proud rugby legacy and bringing glory back to the school. With a rich sporting tradition spanning 175 years, Thomian rugby remains one of the most respected names in school rugby.
Head Coach Tristen Healey of New Zealand expressed confidence in the squad, praising their commitment and unity. He said the team reflects the true Thomian spirit united, and determined to compete at the highest level. One of the major attractions this season will be the seven traditional trophy encounters, where long-standing rivalries will once again ignite excitement among students, old boys, and rugby supporters across the country.
Beyond results, Thomian rugby continues to uphold values of sportsmanship, respect, and brotherhood. With strong support behind them, the Thomians will be aiming not only for victories, but also for a memorable season that brings pride back to Mount Lavinia.
Thomians will lock horns with Thurstan in their opening encounter today.
