McLarens Group and HNB Assurance qualify for final

6th MCA–Fairfirst ‘F’ Division 20-Over Cricket Tournament

Shehan Sandaruwan captured five wickets and smashed an unbeaten 31 off 15 balls to help McLarens Group qualify for the final


 

McLarens Group and HNB Assurance won their semi-finals on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, to qualify for the final of the 6th MCA–Fairfirst ‘F’ Division 20-Over Cricket Tournament.

On Saturday at the MCA Grounds, Shehan Sandaruwan starred with a five-fer (5/11) and followed it up with an unbeaten 31 off 15 balls (1 four, 3 sixes) to power McLarens Group to a three-wicket win. Lahiru Amarasekera and Asanka Ranasinghe captured two wickets each to restrict MAS Active to 102 runs.

On Sunday at the same venue, HNB Assurance bowlers managed to defend their score of 158 to qualify for the final and remain unbeaten in the tournament. Kaveesha Sampath and Chathuran Sanjeewa of Ansell Lanka were rewarded with three wicket hauls each but their batsmen fell short of the win in need.
