The Maritime Golf Challenge (MGC), a much-anticipated sporting and fellowship event within Sri Lanka’s maritime and logistics fraternity, was inaugurated in 2008 with the objective of bringing together past and present professionals from the industry through the spirit of golf.

What began as a friendly annual gathering of maritime and logistics players has, over the years, evolved into a vibrant and well-structured golfing platform. The Maritime Group now meets regularly for monthly games, culminating in a prestigious annual tournament held towards the end of each year. The event has steadily grown in participation and stature, while retaining its core values of friendship, camaraderie, and mutual understanding.

Over the years, the Annual Maritime Golf Challenge has been hosted at some of the country’s most iconic golf courses, including the Royal Colombo Golf Club, Shangri-La Golf Resort Hambantota, Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, and Victoria Golf Resort Digana, offering participants memorable golfing experiences across diverse settings.

Continuing this proud tradition, the 18th Annual Maritime Golf Challenge 2025 was held recently at the historic Royal Colombo Golf Club. The event concluded with an elegant Awards Ceremony and Dinner at the Monarch Imperial, Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte, bringing together industry colleagues, friends, and well-wishers for an evening of celebration and fellowship.

The Maritime Golf Challenge remains committed to its founding purpose of strengthening bonds within the maritime and logistics industry, fostering goodwill beyond professional boundaries, and promoting the enduring values of sportsmanship and unity through the game of golf.
