Panadura SC dealt Tamil Union another painful blow when they won in the first innings of their Major Plate match concluded at Surrey Village Ground, Maggona on Sunday. Having gained a first innings lead of 101, Panadura SC batted Tamil Union out of the match by scoring 321 in their second innings, leaving them with an enormous target of 423. Tamil Union finished on 171-6, with Sri Lanka opening bat Oshada Fernando turning his arm over for career-best figures of 4/86 off 10 overs of leg-spin. Navod Paranavithana scored 43 off 28 balls (4 fours, 3 sixes) and Sachitha Jayathilake 57* off 34 balls (3 fours, 4 sixes) for Tamil Union.
In Panadura SC’s second innings, Vishva Chaturanga (57 off 64 balls, 9 fours), Kanchana de Livera (79 off 112 balls, 8 fours, 2 sixes), and Vishwa Lahiru (52 off 39 balls, 6 fours, 2 sixes) scored half-centuries apiece.
Kurunegala YCC did well to dismiss Nugegoda SWC for 282 and gain a first innings win at the Galle Cricket Stadium.
