Vishmi Gunaratne’s brilliant 132 helped CCC defeat Navy SC, Harshitha Samarawickrama scored 87 in Navy SC’s run chase, Kaveesha Dilhari led Badureliya CC’s run spree with 102*, Shehara Induwari ran through the Ace Capital CC batting taking 7/10

National players came to the fore in the Major Club women’s limited-over match between CCC and Navy SC played at Welisara yesterday which the former won by eight runs (DLS method).

Vishmi Gunaratne hit a brilliant 132 off 142 balls (15 fours, 3 sixes) for CCC to reach 221-7 in 48 overs. Inoka Ranaweera picked up 3/34. Navy SC made a tremendous effort to reach their revised target of 221 off 41 overs through half-centuries from Harshitha Samarawickrama (87 off 91 balls, 11 fours, 1 six) and Hasini Perera (57 off 79 balls, 7 fours) who put on 125 for the second wicket only to fall short by nine runs.

Badureliya CC went to the top of the Group B standings with a comprehensive 202-run win (DLS method) over Ace Capital CC at SLLDC grounds, Maggona. Skipper Kaveesha Dilhari led Badureliya CC’s run spree of 212-5 in 41 overs scoring a fabulous century (102* off 85 balls, 11 fours) supported by Sanjana Kavindi (50 off 98 balls, 3 fours). Ace Capital CC chasing a revised target of 236 slumped to 33-9 in 13.5 overs falling to the off-breaks of Shehara Induwari (7/10). – [ST]

Malsha Madushani, a grand all-round performance for SSC (28* & 2/9)

SSC went to the top of the Major Club Women’s limited-over Group B table when they secured their second successive win beating Chilaw Marians CC by eight wickets at the DHH grounds, Madampella yesterday.

Chilaw Marians CC were shot out for 58 in 34.5 overs with right-arm seamers Achini Kulasuriya (3/10) and Malsha Madushani (2/9) being the main destroyers. SSC romped home in 9.2 overs scoring 59-2 with Madushani displaying her all-round prowess by scoring an unbeaten 28 off 25 balls (4 fours, 1 six). [ST]
