Navy SC, Air Force SC and Chilaw Marians CC maintained their unbeaten record in the Major Club Women’s Limited Over tournament recording their second victory in as many matches yesterday.

In a low scoring game at Welisara, Navy SC beat Panadura SC by 6 wickets. Left-arm spinner Hashini Liyanage ran through the Panadura SC batting for 75 with figures of 4/10 off 7 overs. Navy SC lost four wickets overhauling that total in the 20th over, three of them falling to left-arm spinner Yasanthi Herath.

At Surrey Village, Maggona, Chilaw Marians CC beat Badureliya CC by 6 wickets with 16 overs to spare. Badureliya CC were restricted to a total of 162-8 by left-arm spinner Sachini Nisansala (3/33). Sanjana Kavindi (49 off 82 balls, 6 fours) at the top and Manudi Nanayakkara (33*) and Sumudu Nisansala (21*) in an unbroken stand of 57 in the middle saw Chilaw Marians CC home.

Sri Lanka Women off-spinner Inoshi Priyadharshani starred in Air Force SC’s 104-run win against Colts at Katunayake. Inoshi took 5/17 to bowl out Colts for 106 in reply to Air Force SC’s 210 where No. 9 Ayesha Keerthiratna’s rear guard knock of 64 off 52 balls (11 fours) rescued them from a perilous position of 104-7. Ayesha and Harshani Wijesooriya (27) added a valuable 82 for the eighth wicket.

CCC and Army SC bounced back after losing their opening match with facile wins. CCC beat Ace Capital CC by 48 runs at the Panadura esplanade. National cricketer and CCC skipper Vishmi Gunaratne hit a splendid 74 off 67 balls (10 fours, 1 six) and Limmy Tillakaratne (35) and Chushadi Kaushalya (34*) scored at a run a ball in their total of 247. Ace Capital CC although losing only six wickets could manage only 199 with Malsha Madushani contributing 66 off 112 balls (5 fours) and Hashini Indrajith 44 off 48 balls (3 fours).

Army SC thumped SSC by 92 runs on their home turf at Dombagoda. All round batting contributions saw Army SC score 187 off their 50 overs. Nethmi Senarathna top scored with 40 off 65 balls (6 fours), while off-spinner Rangika Fernando picked up 4/37. SSC were shot out for their second successive total of less than 100 – 95 where Chaturani Gunawardane made a top score of 32 and medium-pacer Niluka Kushanti produced economical figures of 6-3-8-3.
