LOLC Finance emerges Overall Champions at 13th FHA Sports Festival

LOLC Finance PLC once again asserted its dominance and team spirit by clinching the coveted title of “Overall Champion” at the 13th Finance Houses Association (FHA) Sports Festival, held on 10 May at the Bloomfield Grounds, Colombo. This victory marks a consecutive triumph for LOLC Finance, having also secured the overall championship in 2024, reinforcing the company’s continued commitment to excellence not just in financial services space, but also in fostering a culture of holistic development, wellness, and unity among its workforce.

Bringing together 27 leading finance institutions from across the country, the FHA Sports Festival is one of the most anticipated events in the financial sector’s calendar. This year’s event was further elevated by the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) Director of Supervision of NBFIs C. Jayasinghe, and CBSL Assistant Governor C. P. S. Bandara, whose attendance underscored the significance of this platform in encouraging healthy inter-company engagement.

LOLC Finance stood out across multiple disciplines with a showcase of resilience, discipline, and outstanding sporting performance. The company’s men’s cricket team delivered an unbeaten streak, culminating in a resounding victory over Vallibel Finance in the finals. Led by Captain Krishantha Lakmal, the team displayed a masterclass in strategy and execution. Star performances from Dushantha Wickrama, who was crowned Man of the Final, and Lakmal Kumara, named Best Bowler of the Tournament, underscored the depth of talent and preparation within the LOLC camp. The victory was not only a display of athletic prowess but also a reflection of the strong team culture and leadership embedded within the organisation.

Beyond cricket, LOLC Finance also earned significant accolades across other categories. The company secured third place in the women’s 100m relay event thanks to a strong performance by Darshi Godaliyadda. The LOLC Finance team was also celebrated for their creative, earning second place in the Best Hut competition — a vibrant expression of team pride and engagement. Furthermore, LOLC Finance’s Nishadi Dissanayake was proudly crowned as the FHA Queen, a recognition that beautifully encapsulated the elegance, spirit, and all-round excellence that LOLC brought to this year’s festival. Additionally, LOLC’s tag rugby team delivered a strong performance throughout the tag rugby tournament, ending as Runner-Up after a series of fiercely contested matches.
