A six-wicket haul by Kaveesha Dulanjana helped Abans Group defeat Sampath Bank by 79 runs in the rain-interrupted MCA-Honor Champions League final played at the CCC Ground on Friday [21].
Electing to bat first on a sunny morning, half-centuries by Duranka Silva, Tharusha Fernando and Shahan Kaushalya helped Abans Group post a total of 284/10 in 49.1 overs. Dumindu Sewmina and Chathuranga de Silva captured four wickets each.
Chasing 285 to win, Sampath Bank were 85/3 at the end of 20 overs when the rains came down, and the game was reduced to 34 overs. Sampath Bank, being set a new target of 231 runs to be scored in 34 overs, were dismissed for 151 runs in 27.4 overs. Chamath Dilsara was the top scorer with 37 runs.
