Former Mahanama College, Sri Lanka Army and national Rugby stalwart, Kapila Knowlton has been appointed as the Head of Rugby Selectors, bringing with him a wealth of playing experience, discipline, and deep understanding of the local rugby. These appointments were approved yesterday by Sports Ministry.
Knowlton's rugby journey began at Mahanama College, where he earned a reputation as a committed and intelligent player with strong leadership qualities. His transition to Sri Lanka Army Rugby marked a significant phase of his career, as he featured prominently in the domestic circuit, competing at the highest level of club rugby. Representing the Army, he was known for his physicality, game awareness, and team-first approach qualities that later shaped into national level later on.
The other selectors are Trinity double International, Duminda de Silva, former Antonian and CH player, Jude Pillai and Zahiran, CR player, Mohamed Mushtaq.
Indika Rukshani Ariyasena, Sri Lanka’s very 1st Women’s Rugby Captain also played for Sri Lanka Army for nearly two decades will be the other selector. She had her education at Mayadunne Maha Vidyalaya in Avissawella.
