Kandy SC appoints Sanushka as Forwards Coach

Sanushka Abeywickrema

Former Trinity College standout player and current Assistant Coach Sanushka “Kutty” Abeywickrema, has been appointed as the Forwards Coach of Kandy Sports Club for the upcoming 2025/26 rugby season.

Abeywickrema, product of Trinity played under Rahul Karunathilake in 2016, enjoyed an impressive playing career with Kandy SC from 2017 to 2025 establishing himself as a key figure in the club’s success.

Following his retirement, he seamlessly transitioned into coaching, first mentoring junior teams at Trinity junior outfits before taking up the role of Assistant Coach of the 1st XV outfit in 2022. He is also the Head patch of the 2nd XV outfit at Trinity.

Fazil Marija will head the coaching unit with Tharaka Algama operating as the Trainer, Kapila Silva as Team Manager, Mahesh Weerasinghe as Rugby Chairman and Mobby Perera as the Masseur of the unit. (SJ)
