Kandy SC Captain Lavanga Perera retires

Kandy Sports Club Captain Lavanga Perera will retire from his playing career with immediate effect.

Lavanga, former Kingswood Sevens skipper, national sevens and fifteens, had an excellent career in rugby.

He played for Kingswood from 2009 to 2011 leading the sevens outfit in his final year. He turned out for Kandy SC soon after leaving school and playing for 14 long years. 

Lavanga toured many Asian countries both in sevens and fifteens playing in Asian Sevens series, Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and Asian Games in South Korea.

Lavanga was the Kandy Sumangala Under-16 outfit’s Head Coach and was also looking after their backs of the Under-19 outfit.

He will be reading for level 2 in the near future and likely to coach one of the leading schools in the coming season.
