Kandy Regional Junior Open Golf tees off today

Kandy Regional Junior Open Golf Championship 2025 organised by Sri Lanka Golf and sponsored by Prima will take place from today till 18 September at the Victoria Golf Resort in Rajawella. Reshan Algama will defend his title in this event.

Algama, Sri Lanka’s highest-ranked world amateur junior, delivered a commanding performance at the 2024 edition, securing the Gold division (Boys) title. The other world-ranked juniors Jevahn Sathasivam, Adhithya Weerasinghe and Jacob Norton, whose participation will add further prestige and colour to the tournament.

Keya Abhayaratne, Anumi Karunathilake, Sithara Lorance and Aaraadhi Samararathne too will be teeing off in the same division among the Girls.

In the Silver division, Saqeeb Zuhar will make a comeback into golf from cricket and will play alongside Lavidu Premarathna. In the Girls’ category, Genuli Weerakoon is tipped to lead.

Copper division was last won by Jaeden Sathasivam who will defend his title and play alongside Abhiman Abeywardhana, Dulkini Kangara.

Prima with Junior Golf in Country which counts more than 15 years is a fast growing sport in the country. (SJ)
