Kaizer Lye

Wesley College enter the 2026 schools rugby season with confidence, driven by a promising leadership unit and a clear sense of direction.

The Double Blues will be led by experienced fly half/first centre Kaizer Lye, a fifth-year player who has risen through the Wesley ranks and now takes on the captaincy. Having captained age-group teams from Under-10 to Under-16, Lye brings strong game understanding, quick distribution and natural leadership to the role.

Supporting him will be vice-captain Nelith Hapugalla, while Pawan Thirangama has been appointed deputy vice-captain, ensuring stability and balance within the squad.

The 2025 season saw Wesley deliver encouraging performances against quality opposition, with noticeable improvement in discipline, structure and attacking play as the year progressed, the outfit has ambitions firmly set on the League and Knockout titles this year around.

The coaching structure remains intact, with former national player and old boy Terence Henry continuing as head coach, assisted by Omar Kuthubdeen, Shem Mendis and Thilina Weerasinghe, providing valuable continuity and expertise. (SJ)
