Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) will field a strong 10-member rowing squad at the Asian Rowing Cup 2026, scheduled to be worked off from 24 to 26 April in Chungju, South Korea, with hopes of making a significant impact against some of Asia’s top rowing nations in the Club segment.
The Sri Lankan contingent will be guided by officials Major Udara De Silva and Captain Kavinda Perera, who will oversee the team’s preparations and performance throughout the tournament.
The athlete line-up includes former Trinity and CR & FC rugby player Zeshan Zakeer, Alma Mohamed, Nethugi Sahanma, Uvein Rajapaksha, Avinash Warnakula, Dinuka Sandaruwan, Kaveesha Pushpakumara, Navodi Randima, Chethana Adhikari, and Kaumadi Ranaveerage. This balanced squad features a mix of promising young talent and experienced competitors ready to represent the country with pride, both in the Men’s and Women’s segments in the club events.
The 2026 Asian Rowing Cup will see participation from 15 nations including China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Taipei, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. The depth of competition is expected to test every crew across all events.
