Jevahn and Reshan to tee off in Jakarta

Two of Sri Lanka’s finest junior golfers, Jevahn Sathasivam and Reshan Algama, will represent the country at the upcoming Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship in Indonesia from 10 to 12 June.

The duo were selected based on their current World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) status and will compete among some of the best young talent from across the globe.

Both Algama and Sathasivam are seasoned campaigners on the junior circuit, having previously represented Sri Lanka in the National and the Sri Lanka Junior teams.

Their inclusion shows the country’s growing presence in international junior golf. Sathasivam is currently the highest ranked junior at 599, while Algama is positioned at 770.

This will be Algama’s third consecutive international tournament in 2025, following his recent performances at the APGC Junior Championship in Hong Kong and the Nepal Amateur Championship. His selection highlights his remarkable consistency and growing reputation on the global amateur stage. He ended on number four out of 60 golfers at the Nepal event.

Sathasivam returns to international competition after a short stay out due to injury and academic priorities. A technically gifted golfer, Sathasivam’s return is highly anticipated, and the Ciputra Championship presents the ideal platform for his comeback.

Sri Lanka’s participation affirms the nation’s dedication to developing young golfing talent and nurturing future champions. The 2024 season was a breakout year for Sathasivam. He was in red-hot form, securing victories at the Sri Lanka Amateur Open, Sri Lanka Junior Open, and multiple Nick Faldo Series events.

These wins have positioned him as one of the most dominant young players in the region, and his return in 2025 is expected to make a significant impact on the local competitive scene. His participation at the Ciputra Indonesia Junior Open signals the start of a busy and promising international campaign in 2025.

Sathasivam’s consistent performance, mental strength, and growing experience mark him as a rising force in Asian amateur golf.
