Sixth edition to feature 16 corporate teams across three divisions
HNB returns as defending A Division champion

The sixth edition of the JXG-MHA 9-A-Side Hockey Tournament, sponsored by Janashakthi Group, will be held on 22 August at the Astro Turf, Colombo 7, with 16 corporate teams competing across three divisions.

Organised by the Mercantile Hockey Association (MHA), the tournament brings together corporate hockey teams as part of the association’s efforts to promote and develop the sport within the corporate sector.

The A Division will feature Seylan Bank, defending champion Hatton National Bank (HNB), Sampath Bank A, Commercial Bank, Hayleys and MAS Holdings.

The B Division will comprise CIAP, Nations Trust Bank and Browns & Company, while the C Division will feature David Pieris Motor Company, John Keells Holdings, Singer (Sri Lanka), Future Life Holdings, Hemas Holdings, InQube Global and Sampath Bank B.

At the fifth edition, HNB defeated Sampath Bank in the A Division final to claim the title. Browns & Company beat Hayleys in the B Division final, while Nations Trust Bank overcame David Pieris Motor Company to win the C Division.

The tournament will feature players from participating corporate teams, including national-level players and emerging talent.

Matches will commence at 8:30 a.m., with live coverage available via the Mercantile Hockey Association Facebook page and the Sri Lankan Sports TV YouTube channel.
