Isipathana College continued their winning streak with a gritty 32/19 points win over Dharmaraja College in muddy conditions at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium last evening.
It was the Greens who led 20/5 at the short breather.
Isipathana’s tries came through Kaveed Jayasinghe and Uthuka Ruwanpathirana, both crossing the whitewash twice, while Nimantha Sandeepa and Abdul Ahamed also touched down once each. Avishka Hiran managed with one conversion. Shakib Zumri, Thinethra Dodangoda and Sithupa Bometh were outstanding for the Isipathana outfit.
However, the Rajans came out firing all cylinders in the second half, refusing to back down. Dumindu Rajapakse, Shashika Senarathne, and Pavan Manodya all scored tries, narrowing the deficit, and kept the pressure on. Sadeesha Bandara added two conversions to bring them within striking distance but ran out of time.
The Referee was Nipuna Amarathunge.
In another encounter played at Rajagiriya, D.S. Senanayake College edged out Ananda 22/18.
