PALLEKELE: Fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana who is awaiting his fate in the Men’s T20 World Cup after injuring his left leg has been ruled out of Sri Lanka’s final Group D match against Zimbabwe tomorrow at the R Premadasa Stadium.

Pathirana pulled up after bowling four balls in the match against Australia at Pallekele on Monday and had to be helped off the field where he took no further part in the match.

He is suspected to have suffered a strain in his left calf muscle, but the team is waiting for an MRI scan report to see the extent of his injury. Pathirana underwent the scan yesterday.

Sri Lanka has suffered two injuries in the World Cup so far with fast bowler Eshan Malinga (dislocated shoulder) and leg-spin all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga (left hamstring tear) being replaced by Pramod Madushan and Dushan Hemantha respectively. – [ST]
