Indian SC declines to cancel India-Pakistan Asia Cup match

The Supreme Court of India yesterday refused to urgently hear a petition seeking the cancellation of the Asia Cup fixture between India and Pakistan, scheduled for 14 September at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

A Bench of Justices J.K. Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi dismissed the request, questioning why the plea required immediate attention. “What urgency is there? It is just a match. Let it be. The game is on Sunday, what can be done now?” the judges remarked.

The Petitioners’ counsel pressed for the case to be listed today, arguing that any delay would render it irrelevant once the game took place. The Bench, however, reiterated: “The match is on Sunday, and what can we do about that? Let it go ahead.”
