  •  Sri Lanka Under-19 Women’s cricketers embark on tour

Sri Lanka Women’s Under-19 cricketers led by left-arm spinner Chamudi Praboda left for India on Wednesday with hopes of beating the host country for the first time.

“We don’t underestimate India because they are the Under-19 World Cup champions. We are looking forward to taking one game at a time and beating India for the first time,” said Chamudi prior to the team’s departure.

Sri Lanka are sending a 15-strong squad that comprises seven players who have played in the Sri Lanka ‘A’ side.

“We are looking forward to playing a good series using the experience of the ‘A’ team players. We have a balanced team in both bowling and batting,” said Chamudi.

Sri Lanka will play three T20 matches and three one-day matches against the Indian Under-19 women’s team. The T20 matches will take place in Chennai and the one-day matches in Pondicherry.

The itinerary:

  • 22 June: First Under-19 T20 at Chennai
  • 24 June: Second Under-19 T20 at Chennai
  • 27 June: Third Under-19 T20 at Chennai
  • 30 June: First Under-19 One-day at Pondicherry
  • 3 July: Second Under-19 One-day at Pondicherry
  • 6 July: Third Under-19 One-day at Pondicherry
