After three successive defeats Badureliya CC finally broke their losing trend when they beat Ace Capital CC by a thumping margin of 158 runs in their SLC Major Club Women’s 50-over match played at the Surrey Village grounds, Maggona yesterday.
Hirunika Niwarathani, the slow left-arm orthodox spinner from Ambalangoda was Badureliya CC’s match winner returning splendid figures of 7/25 off 9.3 overs to put out the opposition for a paltry 51 in 21.3 overs. Offering excellent support to Hirunika was right-arm seamer Sewmina Sasikala who picked up the remaining three wickets conceding 14 runs in 9 overs.
Opening batter Umayangani Peiris with 52 off 74 balls (2 fours) along with contributions of 39 and 33 from Hiruni Hansika and Dilshani Kumarasiri respectively formed Badureliya CC’s total of 209 in 49 overs. Left-arm medium-pacer Sugandika Pathirana (3/32) was the pick of the Ace Capital CC bowlers.
