SLC Major Club 3-Day League
By Sa’adi Thawfeeq
Following nearly a month of frenetic cricket with the staging of the ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, red-ball cricket will come to the fore again with the commencement of the SLC Major Club 3-Day League tournament 2025-26 final phase – the Super Eights – today with a card of four matches.
With the eight clubs that have qualified to play in the Super Eights carrying forward their points from the group stage, Moors SC, who take on Colts at the Surrey Village Grounds, Maggona, have a head start over the rest of the teams, having garnered the most number of points – 31.750, six more than the next two clubs Ace Capital CC and CCC.
Colts come into the Super Eights with the least number of points – 19.190. They will have to be at their best if they are to stop Moors SC from advancing further.
Defending champions Bloomfield (23.605 points), who barely made it to the Super Eights, have a tough task ahead of them when they meet Ace Capital CC at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium. Ace Capital CC (25.605 points) had a good run in the group stages, finishing on top of Group B and will look to carry that form into the Super Eights as well.
Losing finalists NCC (20.405 points) will slug it out with CCC (25.125 points) at the Colts Grounds, while Group A table toppers Police SC (19.295 points), who had a good run in the group phase, front up to BRC (19.440 points) at the CCC Grounds. Both teams start the Super Eights virtually on equal terms with only a fraction of points separating them.
