Hamza takes over Head Coach role at Muscat Pirates RFC in Oman

Former St. Peter’s College rugby player, former Sri Lanka Rugby Executive Director, Hamza Hidayathullah, was appointed as Head Coach of Muscat Pirates RFC.

Oman’s only Junior Rugby Club. Established in 2009, Muscat Pirates RFC has been a key platform for youth rugby development in the region, and Hamza’s appointment is expected to further elevate its standards.

Hamza who moved to Oman in 2012 and has remained actively involved in the game, both on and off the field. Since 2013, he has coached and officiated at numerous regional tournaments, including prestigious events such as the Dubai Rugby Sevens in 2022 and the Budapest Sevens in 2023.

A former player for Old Bens RFC and Petersons in Sri Lanka, Hamza represented PDO Pirates and Saudi Khobar Eagles at international 7s tournaments. Holding World Rugby certifications in coaching, refereeing, and first aid, he was appointed a World Rugby Match Commissioner in 2023.
