Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) entered a new chapter when Roshan Gunawardena was declared president for the 2025-2027 term, succeeding outgoing Chief Rohan de Silva.
Election Committee of SLB, headed by Retired ASP of Police, N.A.T. Jayasinghe revealed the nominations on 14 May to elect its new office bearers for the two-year period. Since nominations were called in for the upcoming Annual General Meeting scheduled for 24 May, only Gunawardena’s name has been forwarded to fill the President’s post.
SLB officials, General Secretary Ajith Wijesinghe, Vice President Buddhika De Silva, National Selection Committee member Kamal Gamlath and Central Province Badminton Association Vice President Palitha Hettiarachchi were present when the announcement was made.
With the only one nomination coming in for the position, Gunawardena will officially take over the post on 24 May at the Extraordinary General Meeting to be held at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo. The remaining office bearers will be re-elected on the same occasion.
