The newly appointed Sri Lanka Cricket Transformation Committee said that they have already begun doing a forensic audit of the accounts of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to find out if there has been any financial irregularities.

The forensic audit is expected to uncover the true extent of alleged mismanagement within the country’s richest sporting institution.

“When you go into any institution it is a must to initially carry out a forensic audit to get a clear picture,” said SLC’s Transformation Committee Chairman Eran Wickramaratne.

“But I must say one thing that it would take a little bit of time. The professionals who are attending to it are not going to do the audit in haste for our benefit as they need to do a thorough job. That is also good because when we make a decision on it there will be some clarity.”

“Only through the forensic audit will we be able to gauge the irregularities. We will definitely take a decision on this to minimise it because we are trying to put every rupee into sports.”

The new administration has promised a full accounting of SLC finances and sweeping reforms.
