CH & FC produced some superb rugby during the first half to beat Sri Lanka Army SC by a 33 points (5 tries, 4 conversions) to 7 points (1 try, 1 conversion) win at Panagoda last evening.

At the short breather, CH led 26/7.

CH, in the end, won on a bonus point.

CH played with very good coordination between their forwards and three-quarters, who ran in four unanswered first-half tries. In the later half, Army defended well, not allowing CH to score freely. Both teams scored one try each. Now, CH are the favoured team to pull off the Plate segment with this win.

CH scored their tries through Pulasthi Dissanayake, Harsha Maduranga, Janidu Dilshan, Udesh Madushanka, and Randitha Warnapura. Kavindu Yasas converted four of them. Meanwhile, Army SC’s solitary try was scored by prop Buddi Sreemantha. Experienced Gayan Salinda was on target with the kick.

The game was refereed by Gihan Yatawara. There will be two matches down for decision today. Police will host Navy SC in a Plate segment encounter at Police Park, while Havies will host Air Force in a Cup segment encounter at Havelock Park. Both games are scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m.
