First Under-17 three-day match Skipper Rehan Peiris puts Sri Lanka in command on day one with century

Sri Lanka took the honours on the opening day of the first 3-day Under-17 match against Bangladesh with skipper Rehan Peiris striking a superb unbeaten century to put his side in command at Mirpur yesterday.

Peiris struck 13 fours in his 179-ball knock of 114* and with Jason Fernando (51* off 99 balls, 1 four) added 113 for the third wicket in an unbroken stand for Sri Lanka to end the day on 183-2.

Earlier Bangladesh were dismissed for 122 by the left-arm spin of Himaru Deshan, off-spin of Manitha Rajapaksa and seam of Minuga Nethsara all of whom captured three wickets apiece.

The match continues on its second day today.
