Lakshya Raichandani was undefeated on 196 at the end of the third day
At the end of the third day of the first U19 4-day Youth Test played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, India were still batting in their first innings at 378-3 in reply to Sri Lanka’s first innings of 424-9 declared.
With only one day left the game is destined to end in a tame draw with India still trailing Sri Lanka by 46 runs.
To make matters worse rain curtailed play in the morning and afternoon session allowing only 59 of the 98 overs scheduled for the day to be bowled. India carried their overnight score from 186 without loss to 295 before Sri Lanka made the initial breakthrough by getting the wicket of Sagar Virk for a compact innings of 134 scored off 312 balls (15 fours, 1 six).
Sri Lanka were able to grab two more Indian wickets cheaply before play ended for the day. However, Lakshya Raichandani, the 17-year-old right-hander from Uttar Pradesh remained unconquered on a splendid knock of 196 scored off 306 balls sprinkled with 21 fours and 3 sixes.
