Fairfirst Insurance, batting first amassed to 375 for 7 in 50 overs, propelled by three half centuries by Thanuka Dabare (50), Gaviru Senhas (92 in 101 balls inclusive of a six and 9 fours) and Sahan de Livera (76) and the unbeaten century by Moditha Ranatunga (105 not out in 67 balls inclusive of 6 sixes and 9 fours)
HNB in reply, gave a spirited chase but fell short by 30 runs being all out for 345 runs in 47.5 overs, their batting spearheaded by M. Premaratne (74) and Sammu Ashan (106 in 90 balls inclusive of 02 sixes and 12 fours) 2024 league winner, Maliban Biscuits registered their second successive win by beating Hayleys Group comprehensively by 5 wickets.
Hayleys batting first shot out for a poultry 106 runs in 26 overs bamboozled by a fantastic spell of bowling by Wanuja Sahan Kumara (7 overs, 1 maiden 13 runs, 5 wickets); Maliban Biscuits shed little sweat by reaching the target in 25.1 overs, scoring 107 for 5.
In the third game, the fancied Citizens Development Business (CDB) was thoroughly shaken by BBK Partnership, who went down fighting by 3 runs. CDB Batting first was restricted to 199 runs in 36.3 overs by BBK Partnership spin attack of Vijayakanth Viyaskanth 4/27 and Nathan Diluxan (3/53). BBK Partnership in reply fell by the post, scoring 196 for 9 in 50 overs with Nipun Karunanayake scoring a valiant 71 runs.
