Elpitiya champions at Inter-Plantations Cricket Tournament 2024

Elpitiya Plantations PLC won the 21st Inter-Plantations Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by Dimbula Athletic and Cricket Club held recently at the Radella Cricket ground. 

Elpitiya Plantations won the Championship after a tough game against Talawakelle Plantations whilst defeating Maskeliya Plantations at the semi-finals. At the finals, Elpitiya scored 87 runs during their 05 overs. This is the fourth win and third consecutive time for Elpitiya Plantations to emerge as champions from this tournament.

Wajira Mannapperuma was the captain of the Elpitiya Plantations team that led them to its victory.

The winning team from Elpitiya Plantations consisted of Wajira Mannapperuma, Asela Udumulla, Anushka Baddevithana, Kanishka Ranchagoda, Pramoth Bandara, Dilukshan Neshan, Vimukthi Nuthumal, Kavinda Sulochana, Yasitha Koswaththa and Sajith Edirisinghe.

A total of 15 teams participated from plantation companies across the country, which made the cricket tournament more competitive and interesting.

The Chief Guest of the event was Talawakelle Tea Estates PLC CEO S. Alawattegama and the Guest of Honour was Elpitiya Plantations PLC Senior G.M.S. Pahathkumbura. The Dimbulla Club President C. Liyadipita, who is also the Elpitiya Plantations General Manager and his team played a major role in organising this event under flood lights for the first time in its history.
