Former Royal College Colombo cricketer Vimath Dinsara who led Sri Lanka against Bangladesh in the Under-19 Youth ODI series has been appointed captain of the Sri Lanka Under-19 team for the 7-match Youth ODI tour of the West Indies.
Dinsara, a top order batsman, will lead a 16-member side to the Caribbean picked by SLC’s junior selection panel.
This tour will be Sri Lanka Under-19 Coach Chamara Silva’s second assignment in this position, the first being against Bangladesh at home in April when Sri Lanka lost the six-match series 3-2 (1 no-result).
Meanwhile, West Indies have also selected a 16-member squad under the leadership of Joshua Dorne, the one drop batsman from Barbados for the series which commences 30 August at Antigua’s Coolidge Cricket Ground (CCG). Matches will also be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground (SVCG).
The Sri Lanka Under-19 team will depart for the West Indies on 24 August. The tour concludes with Sri Lanka’s departure from the Caribbean on 16 September.
All seven matches will commence at 9.30 a.m. (Caribbean Standard Time) and conclude at 5.00 p.m., providing cricket fans with full days of compelling action. Live streaming will also be available on the Windies Cricket YouTube Page with a live scorecard provided for each game on the www.windiescricket.com match centre.
