Diniru Abeywickremasinghe of St. Servatius College and Rashmika Sewwandi of Anula Vidyalaya were named the male and female cricketers of the year at the Matara District Cricket awards ceremony held on Sunday night. 

A large number of male and female school cricketers were felicitated at the ceremony.

Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs  Sunil Kumara Gamage was the chief guest, while Mayor of Matara Jayantha Pathirana, Sri Lanka Cricket Vice President Ravin Wickramarathna,  former Minister Dullas Alahapperuma and  Matara District Cricket Association President and Sri Lanka National Cricket Team Head Coach Sanath Jayasuriya were among the distinguished gathering that graced the evening. 

Minister Gamage and MDCA President Sanath Jayasuriya handed over cricket equipment to member clubs of the MDCA.
