DSI has officially announced the launch of the 24th DSI SUPERSPORT Schools Volleyball Championship at a media conference held at the Grand Maitland Hotel, Colombo 07, on 28 April. As the country’s leading footwear brand, DSI has partnered with the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and the Schools’ Volleyball Association of the Education Ministry to organise this prestigious tournament, which continues to hold a significant place in Sri Lankan volleyball.

Initiated by DSI in 1999 in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and the Education Ministry, the championship is designed to provide opportunities and support to volleyball players from both rural and urban areas. It serves as a national platform for athletes to showcase their skills and progress to both national and international levels. Since its inception, the tournament has featured nearly 200 teams and has contributed to the development of close to 400 sporting personalities. This year, the organisers anticipate participation of 3,500 teams across the country.

“The DSI SUPERSPORT Schools Volleyball Championship continues to play a vital role in the development of school volleyball in Sri Lanka. As a brand deeply rooted in supporting local sport, we remain committed to creating opportunities for young volleyball players to grow and excel. We are proud to support a platform that not only recognises young talent but also contributes to the long-term growth of the sport,” said D. Samson & Sons Ltd., Managing Director Thusitha Rajapaksa.

“At the heart of this initiative is DSI’s commitment to children. As a responsible local brand, this championship is driven by a dedication to nurturing the next generation, providing young athletes with the opportunity, exposure, and encouragement they need to pursue their passion and reach their full potential,” he added.

The tournament features the following age categories: Under-11 boys and girls, Under-13 boys and girls, Under-15 boys and girls, Under-17 boys and girls, and Under-19 boys and girls. The matches will be conducted at both district and national levels, with district matches scheduled on weekends from 10 June – 10 August.
