The Court of Appeal yesterday dismissed the contempt of court case filed against the Director General of Sports over the alleged failure to conduct elections for Sri Lanka Rugby.
The ruling was delivered by the Court of Appeal Justice Acting President Mohamed Lafar Tahir and Justice Priyantha Fernando, who also instructed the withdrawal of the contempt charges.
He also noted that the Director General had complied with the undertaking by calling the Special General Meeting of Sri Lanka Rugby and appointing the Election Committee. Accordingly, the Court was requested to withdraw both the rule and the undertaking.
