Commonwealth Rugby Sevens 2022: Ovin only school boy in the squad

Thomian fly half, Ovin Hettiarachchi is the only School Boy in the Commonwealth Rugby Sevens squad of 20 which was named recently in preparation for the Games in Birmingham in UK during the month of July 2022. The final 12 touring squad will be named later next month under the Head Coach.

Ovin represented his school in all age groups as fly-half or Centre. He was the most outstanding player in the Under-18 event and later won his College rugby colours in the following year.

He was one of the crack player in the Under-19 Western Province Rugby sevens where the Thomians ended as runner up. Ovin who was coached by Shamly Nawas joined the Sri Lanka Air Force to continue his club rugby career.
