Colombo North led by Chamika Heenatigala won the Under-19 Sri Lanka Youth League final defeating Colombo South by five wickets at Samadhi grounds, Anuradhapura yesterday.

Colombo South batting first scored 232-9 with openers Rehan Peiris (53 off 69 balls,7 fours) and Suwahas Fernando (80 off 123 balls, 6 fours, 1 six) laying the foundation for their total with a stand of 91.

Colombo North were also given a good start by their openers Dulnith Sigera (68 off 60 balls, 11 fours, 1 six) and Aveesha Samash (45 off 57) who put on 114, from which point Colombo North were able to knock the required runs off with 9 overs to spare.

The champion team received a cheque for Rs. 500,000, the runner-up Colombo South received Rs. 300,000. Individual awards were won by Player of the Final (Rs. 50,000) – Dulnith Sigera (Colombo North), Player of the Tournament (Rs. 100,000) – Chamika Heenatigala (Colombo North), Best Batsman (Rs. 75,000) – Dimantha Mahathivaran (Kandy) and Best Bowler (Rs. 75,000) – Sumedha Prasad (Kandy). Anuradhapura District CA officials presented the awards.
