  • Kurunegala SC gains promotion to Tier B 3-day League

Colombo Malay CC, one of the oldest cricket clubs in Sri Lanka will be relegated to play in a lower division in the Governor’s Cup limited-over tournament next season after finishing at the bottom of the Tier B 3-day league table for 2025-26.

Colombo Malay CC won one game outright, but suffered five outright losses to total 60.265 points.

Navy SC who was also in danger of demotion managed to survive totalling 62.435 points despite suffering seven outright losses and one outright win.

Colombo Malay CC had a good run in Tier B winning back-to-back T20 cricket titles in 2024 and 2025, but unfortunately in the red ball game they were found wanting this season.

Colombo Malay CC is one of the few clubs that has a club house and ground of their own at Kew (Padang Road) Road in Slave Island.

At the same time Kurunegala SC who won the Governor’s Cup will be promoted to the Tier B 3-day league from next season, while Kalutara Town Club who finished at the bottom of the Governor’s Cup will be relegated to play in the inter-provincial limited-over tournament. – [ST]
