Chilaw Marians CC emerged champions of the Major Clubs Women’s 50-over tournament when they defeated Sri Lanka Army SC by 90 runs in the final played at the Colts grounds yesterday.

Match winners for Chilaw Marians CC were Sri Lankan cricketers, skipper Kaveesha Dilhari (80 off 96 balls, 2 fours, 2 sixes) and Imesha Dulani (71 off 115 balls, 6 fours) who shared a 120-run stand for the third wicket in their total of 205-7 in 49 overs, and off-spinner Sanduni Nisansala who broke the Army batting for 115 with figures of 4/7 off 4 overs supported by left-arm seamer Sulesha Sathsarani (3/30).

National players Anushka Sanjeewani and Nilakshi Silva with 35 apiece and right-arm pacie Achini Kulasooriya (5/37) shone for Army SC.

The awards were presented by Tournament Committee member Deepal Madurapperuma.
