The Inter-Club ‘A’ Division Rugby League 2025/26 moves into Round 1 of Week 6 with two games down for decision tomorrow, with one game each on 3 and 4 January, as the competition gathers momentum midway through the season.

With League positions beginning to take shape, this round is expected to deliver intense battles, traditional rivalries, and crucial points for teams eyeing title contention or survival.

Defending Champions, Kandy SC, CH & FC, CR & FC, and Havelock SC are front runners and are tipped to secure their super round Cup segment berth.

The standout encounter on 2 January will be the much-anticipated clash between CR & FC and Havelock Sports Club at Longdon Place. The Park Club arrive unbeaten and brimming with confidence, while CR will be eager to protect their home ground and halt Havies impressive run. CR will be led by Lasindu Karunathilake, while the Park Club will be without influential playmaker, Sandesh Jayawickrema, with Janidu Fernando captaining Havelock. The Reds, having suffered a setback against CH earlier, will be determined to bounce back. Referee Aruna Shantha will handle the whistle.

At Panagoda on the same day, Sri Lanka Army SC will host CH & FC in what promises to be a physical contest. CH have emerged as one of the most consistent sides this season, displaying growing cohesion and attacking fluency. Army, meanwhile, will need a disciplined and robust performance to challenge a confident CH outfit that remains unbeaten and firmly in the title conversation. CH remained unbeaten so far is tipped to continue their winning streak for yet another week. Referee Jeewaka Fonseka will handle the whistle.

On 3 January, Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club take on defending champions Kandy Sports Club at Ratmalana. Kandy have looked imperious, dominating their outings so far, and will be favourites to extend their winning run. Though Kandy drew with their last game against CH, they are out to continue their winning form. They hit the top gear last weekend with a record-breaking 91/3 win over Sri Lions playing minute 4 of their regulars.

Meanwhile, Air Force, however, will look to draw inspiration from playing at home and aim to frustrate the champions early. They displayed quality rugby but lost the momentum when they were outclassed by Havies 20/5. On form, Kandy should be home with a bonus point. Referee Kelum Sandaruwan will be the on-field referee.

The final fixture sees Sri Lanka Police Sports Club hosting Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club at Police Park on 4 January. Traditionally a closely fought encounter, this clash is expected to hinge on forward supremacy and tactical kicking, with Police holding a slight advantage at home. Referee Raveen Alexander will handle the whistle.

Sri Lions Sports Club enjoy a rest week, offering them a chance to regroup. With Kandy hitting top gear and strong challenges from CH, CR, and Havelock, Week 6 promises quality rugby and high drama across all four venues.
