Under-23 Inter-Club 2-Day final ends in no-decision

CCC and Bloomfield were declared joint champions after the Under-23 Inter-Club 2-Day final ended in a no-decision at the SSC Grounds yesterday.

In reply to CCC’s first innings score of 361-8 declared, Bloomfield replied with 169-4.

Following his big partnership of 160 with Inuka Karannagoda, CCC skipper Anjala Bandara was involved in another useful stand of 67 for the seventh wicket with Eshan Withanage (40 off 52 balls, 7 fours) that took his team past the 300-run mark. CCC eventually declared at 361-8, with Bandara being dismissed for a well-compiled 143 off 259 balls (19 fours). Left-arm fast bowler Mihiranga Silva ended with four wickets.

In Bloomfield’s reply, skipper Mineth Premaratne emulated his vis-à-vis by being his team’s top scorer. He made 55 off 112 balls (7 fours), and with Savindu Rodrigo (53* off 127 balls (7 fours), put on 88 for the fourth wicket. – [ST]
