British School win Novices Swimming Title

British School Swimming Team with officials


The British School in Colombo emerged Girls’ overall champions at the All-Island Novices Aquatic Meet organised by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union and held at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Complex in Colombo.

The victorious British School Team collected a total of 76 points while competing against 60 schools and clubs in the country and went on to secure the championship title.

The defending champions Bishop’s College, settled for the runners-up position with 68 points while Royal Institute claimed third place with 54 points.

The best individual performance came from Thusheli Bandaranayaka, who clinched the Under-13 Girls’ 50m freestyle, 50m breastroke and the 100m freestyle.

In addition, Ishini Hettihewa secured the Gold Medal in the Under-13 Girls’ 50m butterfly and Senuli Gamage won the Gold Medal in the Under-15 Girls’ 50m backstroke event. 

The British School Swimming Team was coached by Jeewaka Perera and assisted by Manjula Padmakumara, Chathura Wijesinghe, Thilina Piyasiri, Anne Madumali and Diana Perera.
