Royal College has officially launched its 2026 rugby season with strong backing from an impressive list of sponsors, reaffirming the school’s status as one of Sri Lanka’s leading rugby powerhouses. Brandix had shown confidence in the Reid Avenue outfit with their signing as the Platinum sponsor for the 2026 rugby season.
With the Inter-Schools Under-19 Rugby Tournament set to begin on 26 April against Science College, the anticipation around the Reid Avenue camp continues to grow in order to regain the League after a 7-year wait.
The 2026 season holds added significance as Royal prepares for another demanding campaign, including the prestigious 80th Bradby Shield Encounter against Trinity College. Royal will host five home games this season and will be determined to reclaim the league title while defending the historic Bradby Shield.
These valuable partnerships continue to play a vital role in supporting and developing school rugby in Sri Lanka. Royal College Rugby believes this strong sponsor network will not only help drive success on the field but also contribute significantly to the long-term growth of the Royal rugby program.
Royal will play Science, Zahira, S. Thomas, Isipathana and First leg of the Bradby encounter at the Reid Avenue Royal Sports Complex while the away matches would be Thurstan, Kingswood, Isipathana and second leg of the Bradby Shield encounter.
The outfit is led by cracking number 8, Disas Pathirana with Savisha Fernando will be his deputy. Bhanuka Nanayakkara will be the Head Coach while Azmir Fajudeen will be their Forwards coach. Royal ended as runner up to Trinity in the recently concluded President Trophy Knockout rugby tournament.
