Second unofficial 4-day Test at Hambantota

Sri Lanka Emerging Players right-arm seamer Chamod Battage took four wickets for 51 runs to bowl out West Indies Academy for 231 on the opening day of the second unofficial 4-day Test played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Cricket Stadium, Hambantota yesterday.

After pacie Nisala Abeyratne had removed the two openers for 13 runs, Battage coming as first change reduced West Indies Academy to 37-4.

Shaqkere Parris (99 off 194 balls, 6 fours, 1 six) and skipper Rivaldo Clarke (57 off 70 balls, 5 fours) staged a recovery with a partnership of 120 for the fifth wicket. Parris held the innings together from falling apart and was out one short of a well-deserved hundred when he offered a catch to Battage off left-arm spinner Shakthi Udara.

Following Clarke’s dismissal to Battage, Nathan Edward (28) joined Parris to produce a stand of 53 that carried West Indies Academy to 210-6. But Battage returning for another spell ran through the lower order to finish off the innings.
