Anjala Bandara played a captain’s innings of 115* to rescue CCC from a precarious position of 117-5 to end the first day of the Under-23 inter-club 2-day final against Bloomfield on 278-6 at the SSC grounds yesterday.
The highlight of the innings was former Mahanama College cricketer Bandara’s century and his 160-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Inuka Karannagoda (56 off 178 balls, 5 fours, 1 six). Bandara ended the day unbeaten on 115 scored off 211 balls (15 fours). Bloomfield’s left-arm fast bowler Mihiranga Silva caused the early damage to the CCC innings finishing with 3/56.
