Opening batsman Avishka Fernando and spin all-rounder Ramesh Mendis hit half-centuries apiece, while bowlers Akila Dananjaya, Chamika Karunaratne and Asitha Fernando captured three wickets each to make early claims for a place in Sri Lanka’s white-ball team in the first Intra-Squad practice match played at Old Trafford, which ended in a tie on Wednesday.

Kusal Mendis’ team batting first totalled 250/9 and Kusal Perera’s side replied with the identical total, finishing on 250/9.

The second and final Intra-Squad practice match takes place at the same venue today before Sri Lanka take on England in three T20Is starting on 23 June at Cardiff.
